As we move toward the Unified Community Platform we're going to merge duplicate wikis and clean up dead wikis. This helps put focus on wikis with communities and keeps everyone from having to duplicate efforts.

There are cases where a wiki about the same topic is dead on one platform and alive on the other. With big, active wikis that have a presence on both platforms it gets more complicated. Let’s talk about small and/or dead wikis first though.

We are looking at deleting wikis that meet the following criteria:

  • Less than 500 page views a month
  • No edits in the last 30 days
  • Little user generated content (12 pages or less)

These will be deleted and removed from the site.

The next level up are wikis that will be archived:

  • 1,000 or less page views a month
  • At most a handful of edits in the last 30 days
  • Don't have an active admin or regular contributors.

These wikis will continue to exist in a read-only state and will have a modal saying that the active wiki is on Fandom.

In both of these cases notices of the impending action will be on the wiki for 30 days before any action is taken so that users / admins have a chance to voice objections.

From there we get to the more active wikis. Those are handled on a case-by-case basis and by working directly with the communities on those wikis. Wikis that have active editors on both platforms on wikis covering the same topic will work directly with a community manager or wiki manager to see if crossing over is something the communities are interested in.

In these cases we will honor the wishes of the community and will not be forcing crossovers.

As always if you have any questions you can find us on Discord or send in a support ticket.
