Talk: SEO best practices

Post UCP

Is the content in this article likely to survive UCP? The reason I ask is that I've followed and participated in some discussions on the Discord server recently (in the "best practices" and "mobility and portability" channels), and that has got me rather concerned about the future when it comes to Gamepedia wikis. Particularly the views from a guy called FishTank is concerning, as in my view they are overly mobile-focused and aims to simplify or dumb down across the board. In a separate discussion it was mentioned that "one size fits all" was not going to be the modus operandi moving forward, which was relieving to see, but then I read all these other discussions, and it's more than a little worrying.

Therefore I wonder if the bulk of the "best practices" in this article is likely to survive. I'm then thinking most about categories (don't use them as landing pages), notices/amboxes, navboxes, tables, and more in general the available screenspace we have here, but that they do not have on Wikia. It is very likely substantial changes will have to be made across the Help Wiki (or even to the concept of the Help Wiki) post-UCP. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 12:16, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

Not sure what you mean with that last line, but I am really interested in an "official" reply here, due to the ramifications such wholesale design philosophy changes will have for (current) Gamepedia wikis across the board. The whole thing seems very strange to me. Not least after reading manual of style-type pages on Wikipedia. They don't appear to have such problems with notices, navbar/-boxes, tables and the like, so I don't understand why Wikia/FishTank has (basically also highlighted in this blog series).
