::::::Basically, on wikis, we try to keep everything visible and transparent and not break things unless there is a substantial reason to. Hiding revisions is generally harmful; users have no clue what the revision actually contains (what if it's something important?) and it breaks the history when scrolling through it. If we couldn't use "there is no reason to hide it" as a reason, we would hide every single edit that is reverted. I hope this helps explains things, Xanthipos!--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 02:00, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

I'm not saying hide every single edit that gets reverted, the reason I asked is that I can see a reason to hide spam. When I think of spam, I think of spamming of links to external websites, and those are links that those hosting the site might not want hosted. Basically, Revision deletion is to address the shortcomings of a permanent edit history, one of which is that it thwarts forgiving and forgetting.--Xanthipos (talk) 05:06, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hidden from admins as well?

> Vandalism so vile that all record of it ought to be expunged from the wiki for normal users and admins
Admins and guardians have the necessary permissions to view revdeleted edits and log entries (these should be deletedhistory and/or deletedtext). Unless that risk of losing all RevDeleted material is real and substantial, or there is some other issue I am unaware of, this line should be edited to no longer list admins. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 05:13, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Hiding spam

I actually don't understand why it shouldn't be used to hide general spam, is there a reason against it, as opposed to the absence of a reason for it.--Xanthipos (talk) 01:21, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

There is no reason to use it to hide spam. --Pcj (T·C) 17:17, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
My question is if there is a reason against it? If not, do you think it really matters?--Xanthipos (talk) 17:43, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
The reason against it is it's not allowed. There is no reason to use it to hide spam. --Pcj (T·C) 17:43, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
But is there a good reason why it's not allowed? This can't just be "there is no reason to hide it".--Xanthipos (talk) 17:46, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Because it's excessive and breaks the normal history flow. --Pcj (T·C) 17:48, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
