Gamepedia Help Wiki

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete|reason for deletion request}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Add Extension: NumberFormat[]

Add Extension: NumberFormat to Neverwinter ru. Thanks! Barknar (talk) 22:07, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Very minor annoyance[]

At the bottom of the page it says "Copyright 2005-2018, Curse". The hyphen (-) should actually be a endash (–) (see Wikipedia:MOS:DASH). Very minor thing, I know. Nixinova (talk) 07:17, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

Translation Hydra extensions[]

How to translate the expansion Hydra, example: Extension: Search? Need to register in github? Barknar (talk) 07:28, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

I accidentally added a bunch of pages that I can't delete now[]

As the title said I accidentally added a bunch of pages that I can't remove now (they were supposed to be added on another gamepedia page). Can someone remove them? The pages are the following

Path of Exile Wiki - German Page[]

The Wiki has Pages in France and Russian but not in German. I think a DE-Site will be a good idea to help German users for a better understanding of PoE. I want to start the translate in German, maybe other german users follow my lead...? How can I do this, because there is no Option to add a "German" Link to the List "In other languages"? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Herruntermoser (talkcontribs). Cargo extension updated[]

Always a little unsure how to best go about such tips/requests, but I happened to notice that the Cargo extension has been updated to version 2.2 [1]. Looking at the brief release notes, the addition of a Rating data type could potentially be pretty useful. I was going to update Cargo, but if it hasn't been rolled out on Gamepedia yet it's best to leave it at 2.1.2. Pangaearocks (talk) 17:00, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Share and Adapt?[]

Recently I got back into RimWorld, and then started making some edits on their independently hosted wiki. The help sections there are somewhat basic, so I have looked at the excellent sections here and started wondering: Would it be okay to copy and adapt some or all of it? Looking at for instance wikipedia:Help:Magic_words was an inspiration for the similar page here at Gamepedia. I'll probably cut down on some of the details and code (and Gamepedia-specific stuff), and maybe drop the versions column, but it would be an excellent starting point. Looking at the license it appears to be fine, but I wanted to check with you guys first. Similar to what I did with the developer of Cargo before adapting the same documentation here. Cheers. Pangaearocks (talk) 19:46, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Per the license it's fine as long as you share alike and provide attribution. I don't see any licensing note on that wiki so that may present some issues. --Pcj (T·C) 19:49, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, that is a good point about the license. I couldn't find anything either, and the links at the bottom of the wiki look pretty bareboned and/or outdated. I've contacted an admin over there, so hopefully it can be resolved. Maybe they forgot about it, or didn't think about it at the time. The focus tends to be on writing content after all. But we shall see once he gets back to me. Speaking of the bottom... it's sad to see what's stated on this one now :-/ Pangaearocks (talk) 02:27, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
I've tried to get in touch with the admin in various ways, but no reply yet. Wanted to get started on this while I still have the free time, energy and interest. Given how outdated some of those pages are, with mentions of Wikia, I'm guessing they were imported/copied back in 2013-14 when the wiki was created, and basically nobody have looked or thought about it since. What do you propose I do? The admin carried out something a month ago, and then 5 months ago, so doesn't look very active :-| So much that needs to be done as well, but with this license thing and being a regular user, I can't really do much. They don't even had an Admin noticeboard over there for some reason. Would be easier if it was hosted here tbh. Could have gotten more professional help on the CSS and main page side as well. I'd love to hear some advice on what can be done to improve matters, if anything (besides editing regular content pages). Cheers. Pangaearocks (talk) 21:47, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
If it was hosted at Wikia and still is around somewhere, you could locate that and work on that wiki instead. --Pcj (T·C) 21:50, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
Actually did find a Rimworld wiki on Wikia right now, but it's very bareboned, and appears to have been created in 2016, 3 years after the official one. I suspect they simply copied some code from somewhere over there to get content on those disclaimers and suchlike default pages when they started out, and little has been done about them since. And although you and Wikia are basically the same entity now (thankfully not yet (?) when it comes to site design/banners), I wouldn't want to start editing anything over there. The UI is hideous and looks awful to work with. Pangaearocks (talk) 22:15, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
As suspected it was simply forgotten about when the wiki was set up years ago. The administrator has sorted it out now, with the CC license logo and note w/link on the bottom on each page. It should then be okay to adapt similar content from other wikis and adapt it for that one.
However, I have a query about the MsUpload extension, which I hope you can clear up for us, given you have great experience with the backbone stuff. All about the multiple uploading of images works as advertised, but for whatever reason images don't get automatically added to categories when I am uploading while editing a category page (which is mainly what I wanted since I'm about to upload many images from game files). Are you able to help us out with what the issue is? I can't find anything by searching, nor is there anything on the extension's talk page. Pangaearocks (talk) 19:18, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
Ask on the extension's talk page. --Pcj (T·C) 19:21, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
Cheers, I actually did that after posting here, so hopefully there are eyes on the page. Sorry if it's inappropriate to ask about such matters here. Pangaearocks (talk) 20:53, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

User talk page issue?[]

Just posted something on a user talk page, and upon hitting Save changes a big error message filled the screen. I see the save got through anyway, but there was an internal server error of one type or another. It was on Kitty's page, if it matters that it was for a staff member. Icon requirements[]

I was reading through the food and resources section and got very confused. It might be easier to understand if images of the buffs and debuffs symbols were required. For example, when some say poison, do they mean food poisoning or venom poisoning? When they say "sickness" do they mean indigestion or food poisoning?

There is no food and resources section on tbis wiki. Which wiki are you referring to? — Game widow (talk) 15:40, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

How can I apply edit on that page?

I try that but cant apply cuz

"This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Too Many Foreign Letters Or Repeat Symbols"

Never mind this issue! Thanks!

Extension activation for Othercide wiki[]

Hello, I'd like to request a couple extension to be enabled on the Othercide Wiki:

  • Cargo (for storing objects properties)

Math extension seems to be broken[]

There seems to be an issue in the rendering of mathematical formulas. Instead of pngs with rendered formula, I'm getting this placeholder image. All usage of Math extension seems to be affected. Here are two clear example pages: Extension:Math, I've tried purging and performing null edits without success. Perhaps this issue is related to the backend media migration? --MarxTsunami (talk) 18:14, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

This issue is related, yes. Other users reported the same, including in a staff feedback channel on the Discord server. --AttemptToCallNil (talk) 18:17, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

MultimediaViewer extension seems to be broken[]

The MultimediaViewer extension appears to be broken in many (if not all Wikis). I checked those I know for using this extension, Heroes of the Storm and WoW wikis. The extension does work only on pages from the File namespace, and only if I click on "Open in Media Viewer" button. Phoe nixx (talk) 21:25, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Unable to Edit any pages , claims I am adding "Gibberish"[]

I'm attempting to add resources as I land on islands for Atlas. All I am doing is editing the templates and typing in the resource names. I hit save and they show up with icons and links just as I expect. When I try to save changes it tells me I have been automatically stopped due to trying to type "gibberish". I am honestly trying to help the Atlas community and no matter what I do it tells me I'm trying to post gibberish....

My username has a typo. I tried signing up on my phone and load times delayed my ability to edit it before the buttons were loaded.

Is this where I should be going to get that fixed?

"Join the system" he said. "Contribute to the wiki" he said.

Oh joy. Started off real well.

Activate Cargo extension[]

Can the Cargo extension be activated on The Infected Wiki?

Thank you.

Hello. I think you should use in order to activate it for that extension. This wiki is currently abandoned due to domain and the wiki migration. —Baran ☪︎ 21:43, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

I've contacted Fandom support and they let me know this extension won't be added to new wikis.
"Unfortunately there are some severe performance and compatibility issues that caused us to stop adding it to new wikis. These might be resolved in the future."
