Option to disable this extension and render contents as gallery?[]

Hi, I hate slide shows of any kind, because they reduce usability. For example: having to wait for the 9th image to come 'round and then it goes poof before I'm done reading half the text on it. (The back and pause buttons are disabled on the wiki I'm on, even if they do exist here.) I lack the reaction speed necessary to click the desired image in time. And right click is just worse; the cheeky slideshow continues below my mouse cursor and by the time I select "open image in new tab" the next image has taken its place and that's the one that gets opened, unfortunately.

How would I go about blocking this extension from working? Or changing its behavior so it's an image gallery. Only locally, of course. I don't want to vandalize the target wiki or even start a big discussion on their lack of usability and accessibility practices. I can see why they might think it's a good idea to have slideshows on every single page. It does look good. But for me it's a nightmare in user experience hell.

For a split second on page load, I can see all images show up, but then they all immediately disappear and the slideshow materializes. I want to prevent this last step from happening and keep visible all the separate images on the page. Without a slide show. I've managed to track down the culprit, a SlideBoxLightShow custom HTML tag which lead me here. How can I disable this extension? And as a bonus, maybe render the contents as an image gallery.

Tools available to me:

  • Firewall which can block scripts by name
  • NoScript, WOT, and AdBlock. Disable CSS.
  • User scripts: Readability booster. Theme remover. Color zapper. Print what you like.
